Great authentic northern thai food. I believe the owner is from Chiang Mai too. Came on a Friday morning and got seated right away. Service is fast and you get your food shortly after ordering. The khao soi tasted amazing and components were similar to thailand's. It had a kick of spice already so the extra spice wasnt needed. One thing i like about this restaurant was that a bowl of khao soi only costed $11 when other places charge around $15-$17. The only downside here is the parking. Small parking lot in a plaza. I got lucky and snagged a spot but on other days might have to look for street parking.

Coconut curry soup in Thai is called khao soi and this place has the best bowl I've ever eaten. (Although I haven't tried it yet in Thailand.) I've actually returned to this place after tasting that amazing dish. I've tried their other dishes and they are good but the soup is why I will come back to this place for years to come. Be careful of what you order... some dishes are very spicy. This place is no frills, plastic chairs and plastic utensils. Know this going in. You're simply going for the soup. (Somehow, this sounds like a Thai Seinfeld episode.)

This Thai food was great!!! I drove all the way from Santa Clarita and it was worth the drive! I got the Khao Soi curry with chicken and the pad see eew with chicken. They were both good but the Khao Soi was amazing!!!!!! The service was great too. They are very nice. My new favorite spot. There's only a few tables so go early.

Such a hole in the wall restaurant with THE MOST AMAZING, AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD. It's a very unassuming spot within a plaza with parking--yet parking is atrocious, but still, it's worth it. My friend and I shared kao soi and stewed pork. Both were divine in their own way. So much flavor in each bite. As someone who has been to Thailand 3 times and truly loves Thai food, Amphim does their country justice in their cooking.

Just wanna say that I'm still obsessed with their Kanom Jean Nam Ngiaw after all these years. Papaya salad is still obviously good. I tried this small fried fish recently and it was delish, taste umami and crunchy. Even though fish, the flavor doesn't overpower other dishes. I just love this place so much and it's one of the few place I would drive out of my way for. ILY, pls never stop making Kanom Jean Nam Ngiaw.

Oh My GOD As a lover of Thai food, I wanted to delve in deeper to one of my favorite cuisines. I have tried dozens and dozens, but Amphai blew every since place out of the water. Upon walking into their humble establishment, I knew it would BE GAS. The smell, the led light strips, the 3 tables -- it was so perfect. Every dish was so fragrant with a pleasant spice, with such great textures. We got the #8, #13, and #23 if I remember correctly. The sausage had wonderful proportions of lemongrass and a soft bite, so packed with flavor and smelled so, so amazing. The stir fried jackfruit (bottom left) was my favorite. It was spicy and fragrant, but the texture was my favorite part. It melted in your mouth but also had crisp, crunchy pieces I dreamed about. The pork coconut curry had chunks of pork belly that also was insanely tender. The curry was so addictive, sweet and spicy and so flavorful. We got rice on the side as well, and the lovely lady who took our orders and filled our waters and also packed our to go containers so safely just made this meal impeccable. It was enjoyable, comforting, and really price friendly. This is peak LA

This was some of the best Thai food I've had in a while. We got the Khao Soi Gai / papaya salad - salted crab flavor / Thai fried crab meat patty. Everything was so good, it's hard to pick a favorite. We all agreed that the Thai fried crab meat patty was super delicious and that we had to get multiple orders of it. The restaurant itself is super tiny so make sure to come during an off time if you plan to eat in if you have a big group. This place is totally a hidden gem and worth checking out if you're visiting the area like us!

I made the mistake of trying to weed my way through the thicket of hipsters at Pine + Crane, and after giving up, I went back to Amphai. And the third time there, having tried 9 dishes, I'm convinced it's one of the top-10 restaurants in Los Angeles. That rating is solely based on the quality of the food - and it is a litmus test for how much you care about food vs. atmosphere, the latter of which is simply terrible. But the food is just like you'd get in northern Thailand, where I've spent a few happy weeks. Maybe not quite as spicy, but the taste is EXACTLY RIGHT. There are 12 seats, and your meal will be served on paper plates - which makes it perhaps better for takeout than eat-in. And a tip: look at the counter to see what today's off-menu specials are. I got the pig brains in banana leaf, and the tastes of brains, curry, and lemongrass were out of this world.

Had this doordashed and it was delicious! The pork curry obviously travels well. And holy crap it was a massive portion for a very good value! Gingery but also slightly sweet from the tamarind, it was based with flavor and lot and lots of pork! Mostly lean but some fatty pieces that were fall apart tender. The lean pork was sometimes just a little dry. Definitely a good option though. The fried pork belly comes with a great dipping, super addictive sauce (nam jim jeaw?). Again very good portion. This one travels slightly less well - the crispy pieces had fallen off most of the pork and it had a pool of oil at the bottom, but that didn't stop me from scarfing it down. Especially with that dipping sauce. Also got rice to soak up all the flavors. Good rice.

always looking for a new Thai spot and this one did not disappoint. It's small, like really small. The waiters are so nice. Every Thai restaurant seems to have nice people working there. Maybe they could tell we were excited to try it. The khao soi was good. A little powdery but flavor was great. First time trying Kanom Jean Nam Ngiaw. It was seriously great. Flavor was amazing and fresh. Noodles seemed a tiny bit overdone but it didn't bother me. I will definitely be going back. This is the only restaurant that I know specializes in "northern" Thai food. Nice to see some different things on the menu.
